What is XRP?
XRP was built with a clear purpose: to modernize global money transfers by offering faster, cheaper alternatives to traditional banking rails. Unlike many other crypto assets, its supply was pre-minted, with Ripple Labs actively steering adoption, especially among financial institutions.
Lately, XRP has seen renewed momentum. A pivotal U.S. court ruling—clarifying that a significant XRP sale did not qualify as a securities transaction—sparked confidence across the market. The token briefly rallied toward $0.94 before settling near $0.82, reflecting both optimism and the usual market recalibration.

XRP Technical Indicators
When XRP was launched, a total of 100 billion tokens were created, and this supply has remained constant ever since. As a pre-mined crypto, only a fraction of these tokens were initially released for trading on crypto exchanges. The network utilizes 55 smart contracts to gradually release one billion tokens each month over a period of 55 months, which has brought the current circulating supply to about 59.48 billion tokens. Notably, more than 60% of the total XRP supply is held by the top 100 crypto wallets, with Ripple itself owning 6.5 billion tokens—this concentration has sparked debates about XRP’s level of decentralization.
Additionally, the total XRP supply has slightly declined to 99.98 billion due to the burning of transaction fees every time a transfer is completed.

Ripple Lawsuit with the SEC
Ripple’s clash with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has been a defining legal saga for the crypto world. At the heart of the dispute was the SEC’s claim that Ripple raised $1.3 billion through an unregistered securities sale of XRP. Unlike many peers that settled, Ripple chose to fight, turning the case into a precedent-setter for the industry.
Momentum shifted in Ripple’s favor when a judge ruled that its programmatic XRP sales on public exchanges did not breach securities laws—fueling a rally that sent prices to $0.94. However, the court also agreed with the SEC that sales to institutional investors, worth over $700 million, did violate regulations, leaving both parties with partial victories.
The story took another turn in August 2024, when the court confirmed that XRP trading on secondary markets is not a security. Ripple, initially facing a $125 million penalty, reached a 2025 settlement that cut the fine to $50 million, with the rest refunded. Alongside this, Ripple committed to strengthening transparency around institutional offerings, targeting full regulatory compliance by 2029.
For crypto at large, the outcome marked a milestone in legal clarity. For XRP, it meant renewed legitimacy, reignited investor confidence, and the chance to reclaim its role in shaping cross-border finance.
XRP Price Prediction 2025
XRP is well-positioned to strengthen its role in the cross-border payments market in 2025, supported by the steady growth of the global remittances sector. With its high-speed transactions and minimal fees, the XRP network is expected to see significant adoption in the year ahead. Price forecasts suggest a potential high of $3.39, while downside risks from global macroeconomic pressures could push it as low as $2.47. On balance, the average projection for 2025 stands at around $2.90.

Is XRP a Good Investment?
Following its legal win against the SEC, XRP has re-emerged as a strong contender in the crypto market. While the ruling boosted investor sentiment, it does not erase the inherent volatility of digital assets.
Like all crypto assets, XRP carries significant risk, with prices prone to sharp swings in both directions. Investors are best served by exercising caution, investing only what they can afford to lose, and basing decisions on thorough research rather than short-term market hype.
